Downfall and Snowfall

| He parked his car outside my favorite bakery and ordered me to stay inside the car until he returned. He locked the car and kept an eye on me from a distance while he ordered the food. |
He allowed me to cry my heart out in his arms. My sobbing
intensified as he hugged me tightly and massaged my back. He waited patiently
for me to take my time and relax. My heart felt lighter. My nose turned
scarlet red, kajal smudged from the corners of my eyes, and lipstick stained my
palm when I wiped it away. He looked at me and laughed. "You look like a
Joker!".
I punched him in the chest, and then hugged him back. He held me with
the same warmth. I felt safe and unreal around him. He made me felt like a
youngster who had conquered her fear of the unknown. He was broad, strong
and muscular. I was little and petite. I gazed at him again, as he put my hair
behind my ears, set it with his hands, and wiped the tears from my face.
Are you okay now? ( he asked)
I nodded in response.
"Let's go. I'm feeling weak." I said when I tried to get up but couldn't. As I
removed my heels, my feet were bloated and sore. He noticed the redness and
lifted me like a feather.
I didn’t resist either. I carried my heels in one hand and wrapped the other
around his neck. Since it was already very late, there was no one in the office
except for the security guard who was told that my ankle was twisted. He
carried me all the way down from the 11th floor to reception, where his
car was waiting. He carefully placed me in the front seat and kept the rest of
my belongings in the back seat.
He tucked in the seat belt and drove like a boss. We didn’t exchange any words on the way, nor did he ask any questions. I folded my hair into a messy bun, took out my muffler from the bag, and wrapped it around me as I felt cold. I opened the window pane and felt the frigid, chilly air. My skin cracked and lips felt dry, but my soul felt restored. He noticed me getting comfortable in the cold. I could feel his eyes on me.
"Are you hungry?" He asked in a mild tone.
I nodded again in response.
I was starving from inside; I haven’t had anything from the last 4 hours. I
felt a strong churn in my belly. He parked his car outside my favorite bakery
and ordered me to stay inside the car until he returned. He locked the car and
kept an eye on me from a distance while he ordered the food.
I needed that space for a moment. I looked terrible. I fixed my face in the rear mirror. I cleansed my kajal and put on some moisturizer and lip oil as my skin demanded it. I tucked the muffler even closer. The tip of my nose was still red. He was right; I looked like a joker, but a cuter one. A mild smile landed on my face after a heavy day. He has his eyes on me from a distance. He noticed me when I was fixing myself. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and patiently waited for him in the car.
He was there in the blink of an eye, as if he was waiting for me to settle
down. He was holding two croissants, a large cup of soupy noodles, and a
coffee, as I preferred. I finished the hot, steaming noodles in no time. I
gorged on the entire meal as if I had been starving for ages. He watched me
finish the meal with those lovable eyes. He wiped the corner of my lips very
gently as I slurped the last spoon of noodles.
I'm still hungry. I said it in a low, cute voice after finishing everything
I had.
What? Are you serious?
He laughed in astonishment.
Those were the first set of words I exchanged with him after the breakdown.
The food brought my senses and mood back. The snowfall started as we were
discussing our next food junction. I felt cozy in the car parked along the
road, lingered with the smell of coffee and noodles and with those smiles on
our faces.
I felt relived, and so did he.
With smiles on our faces, we gazed at each other for a moment.
"Ravin!", I gasped and smiled as I took his name.
"Clara!" —he reciprocated the same, wittily.
I smiled; he smiled; problem solved!
